tumblr_nopxtqxbka1qex654o1_1280This week EMMH welcomes Minchul Kim who will be presenting the paper, “Travels, the Enlightenment and the French Revolution: the case of Volney,” on Monday, 13 February 2017.  Minchul is a current PhD Candidate at the University of St Andrews under the supervision of Professor Richard Whatmore. He is working on the topics of democracy and representation during the French Revolution.

Minchul has already become a prolific publisher of his research, including two journal articles: ‘Republicanism in the age of commerce and revolutions: Barère’s reading of Montesquieu’, French History 30:3 (September 2016), pp. 354–375; and
‘Volney and the French Revolution’, Journal of the History of Ideas (forthcoming in 2017).
