What’s on: 23 January 2017
EMMH Postgraduate Forum is pleased to announce that we will be ringing in a new term of forum sessions with the special event, Remembering Burns: Myths and Memorialisations of the poetry of Robert Burns, on 23 January 2017 at 5.15pm. This event, organized by recent St Andrews PhD Sean Murphy, will consist of three mini paper presentations, followed by Q&A discussion. Presenters include:
Sean Murphy, ‘Burns Night and Scottish imperialism in the 19th century’
Paul Malgrati, ‘The Bard’s legacy and Scottish political parties in the 20th century’
Garry MacKenzie, ‘Burns and the Chinese Makars: Scots poetry and translation‘
After the forum we will make our traditional pilgrimage to the St. Andrews Brewing Company where we can all lift a dram in honor of Scotland’s bard!
Join us from 5.15pm in St Katherine’s Lodge Room 1.10 for discussion. Refreshments will be provided, followed by a trip to the Brew Co. to continue discussion. **Please be aware that the doors to St Katherine’s are often locked at 5:00pm. Please plan accordingly.**
