The Early Modern and Modern History Forum (EMMH) is a biweekly event that provides a comfortable and relaxed environment for postgraduate students to present their research, receive feedback, and generate discussion and explore ideas with their peers. Seminars are free to attend and open to all.

We are currently accepting proposals for 20 minute papers to be presented at one of our biweekly seminars. Papers are accepted from across all topics within Early Modern and Modern History. We welcome submissions from fields such as those below, as well as others:

Heritage and Memory

Gender and Sexuality

American Studies

Nations and Nationalism

Material Culture

Environment and Ecology

Crime, Justice, and Punishment

Politics, Policy, and the State

Seminars are held biweekly on Monday at 5.15pm in room 1.10 at St. Katharine’s Lodge. Refreshments are provided and you’re invited to join us for a drink after each seminar for a chance to socialise and further discussions.

If you would like to present a paper at the University of St. Andrews during the 2015-2016 academic year, please email Mattias Eken at (mjee@st-andrews.ac.uk). Additionally, we ask that you include the title of your paper, a short abstract of your topic (250 words), a brief bio, and when you would be available to present.
